International collaboration plays a pivotal role in driving successful business development and technological innovation in Canada. Startup companies are being faced with the need to understand the opportunities and pitfalls of internationalization to build their strategies for survival and growth. The European-Canadian Centre for Innovation and Research (ECCIR) and the MacEwan School of Business have partnered to study the significance of international partnerships for Alberta’s technology-focused SMEs and capture perspectives and advice from these SMEs on their international efforts.

During our Startup Week event, we presented our research findings, offering insights into the benefits of international innovation partnerships and strategies for selecting the right global collaborators. We also highlighted sources of support and guidance that can help with overcoming internationalization challenges.

We would like to extend a special thank you to our presenters– Dr. Fernando Angulo-Ruiz, Professor in the MacEwan School of Business, and Britta Baron, President of ECCIR– for sharing their expertise with us. Thank you also to everyone who joined us for this exciting discussion.

We look forward to continuing to help innovative startups discover the benefits of international collaboration!
