ECCIR Welcomes Newly Elected Officers to our Board of Directors
Following our Officer Elections in April, ECCIR is pleased to introduce the newly elected members of our Board of Directors.
First, we are excited to welcome Dr. Carl Amrhein as ECCIR’s new President. Dr. Amrhein is the former Provost and Vice-President (Academic) of Aga Khan University and now holds the title of Professor Emeritus in Arts and Sciences at Aga Khan University, as well as Professor Emeritus in Earth and Atmospheric Science at the University of Alberta. From 2003 to 2014, he served as Provost and Vice-President (Academic) at the University of Alberta, and he has also held senior roles at the Government of Alberta and the University of Toronto. Dr. Amrhein’s wealth of leadership experience and global expertise will be invaluable as we continue to advance ECCIR’s mission.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Britta Baron for her service as ECCIR’s President from 2021 until 2025. Under her exceptional leadership, ECCIR has achieved significant milestones and greatly expanded both our network and influence. We are delighted that Britta will remain on our Board as Vice-President, where she will focus on organizational development.
We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Martin Truksa of 48Hour Discovery will continue his role as Vice-President, alongside Britta. Elisa Park Kim from Biohubx will serve as ECCIR’s Treasurer, and Dr. Dietmar Kennepohl, Professor of Chemistry at Athabasca University, will take on the role of Secretary.
Torsten Geissler, the Science Counsellor at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ottawa, has joined our Board as a Director. He shares this role with our other distinguished Directors: Dr. Stefan Scherer, Celso Boscariol, K.C., and Tara Kelly.
With this outstanding leadership team, ECCIR is well-positioned to continue advancing innovative collaboration between Europe and Canada. We are grateful for the contributions of all our Board Members, past and present, and look forward to continuing to grow ECCIR together.
